In anti coronavirus demonstrations, condemned by the Dutch PM as “criminal”, protesters threw fireworks, looted supermarkets and attacked police in a fight disputing both the restrictions and the virus itself.

Many citizens defied police in reports of unprecedented rallies in around 100 cities across the country on Saturday. Violence broke out between the public and police with people seen being dragged away and beaten by security officials. European Union foreign ministers are scheduled to meet on Monday to determine their response with calls for increased sanctions.

Belgium too saw demonstrations in the fight to stop class justice and racism in the police, after two people died in two weeks inside a police station in Brussels.

Manchester United beat rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup, leaving Liverpool with only one win out of the last seven matches. In La Liga, Barcelona won at Elche putting them now third in the competition with a goal from Frenkie de Jong. Over in the US, the Superbowl matchup was set on Sunday, in the Championship Weekend.
