The Best Sports Photo

Captured by IMAGO photographer Gabor Baumgarten, the photo shows Lina Hausicke of Werder Bremen celebrating a dramatic DFB-Pokal semi-final win over fierce northern rivals Hamburger SV, waving their rivals’ corner flag as her teammates join in. Despite being down to 10 players after an early red card, the Frauen-Bundesliga side triumphed in extra time against the second-division underdogs. The match set a new attendance record for German women’s football, with over 57,000 fans witnessing the historic showdown in the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.
