Welcome back to our Weekend Roundup and the first of the new year.
The festive period was somewhat shadowed by Corona that has seen a huge rise in cases in the last few weeks. Where some could not travel borders to see loved ones for Christmas and New Year in countries such as the UK, others were met with a well deserved celebration and a chance to say goodbye to 2020.
Demonstations did not halt for the holiday season with protests in Paris over police brutality, Berlin over freedom of speech and in Palestine where national flags were held in protest.
In football, Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich won their match against Mainz, 5 to 2 on Sunday putting their lead at 33 points in the standings. Elsewhere, in Serie A, Milan won their match 2-0 over Benevento and put their ten man team back on top. And Christian Ronaldo celebrated his goal in Turin, Italy during the Juventus FC vs Udinese Calcio match this weekend.
