In the wake of multiple lockdowns and the pandemic ongoing globally, many cultural institutions have suffered at the forefront of minimized admission numbers and full closure. British photographer, director and musician Alex Amorós new book aims to not only raise money but act as a tool for remembrance of the much loved music venues across the UK in order to keep the famed locations alive and well long after the pandemic.

Save Our Venues is a campaign that includes fundraising events online such as; live-stream concerts, crowdfunding for individual grassroots venues and a national fund.

Beginning by taking photos of the venues on his daily allocated lockdown walk, Alex has previously also worked on other photographic projects with social documentary and music influence.

He chatted with IMAGO to tell the full story of his new project and how you can get involved to help out with raising awareness and funds for the cause.

During Lockdown 2.0, I decided to begin a passion project to depict the regulatory impact on 40 live music venues across London. I did the project in about three weeks all on foot through the city.

I have considered it important to promote the precarious situation in which many industries find themselves. The music industry itself not only employs a huge amount of people, but is the heart and soul of the London; giving joy to many and bringing people together.

Live Music has shaped so much of my life from working in the venues to playing myself. I wanted to give something back & show support in whatever way I can.

This project will support the ´Save Our Venues´ campaign and in the following weeks, I will release a photobook with pre-orders available here.Alex Amorós/40 Music Venues
